Max Grover has been interested in painting since elementary school and took lots of art classes in high school and learned the printing trade in technical college. He worked as a printmaker and commercial artist for twenty years before classes at Pacific NW College of Arts in Portland, Oregon inspired him to begin painting again and showing his art in furniture stores and restaurants, soon to be followed by galleries.

Max began creating books for children in 1992 after people and an editor commented that his images and colors would appeal to children and adults. Max divides his time between writing and illustrating children's books and painting for galleries. His idea of a perfect day is to drive a bright red car to a baseball game featuring an all-you-can-eat BBQ. Max lives in Port Townsend, Washington with his wife and two cats who you will find in many of his books.
